Here is a nice sunny Autumn wedding to brighten your day!
Sopley Mill Wedding in the New Forest, Hampshire. This is Claire and Nick's day shown through my storytelling wedding photography.
Nick and and Clare got married last October at the authentic old New Forest Wedding venue Sopley Mill. They chose this venue for their wedding not only because it offered facilities for their ceremony and reception but also because it perfectly matched their idea for an autumn wedding theme; a few of those details you will see amongst their wedding day story below. Of course being a Hampshire wedding venue it also meant it was reasonably local for them.
They liked the storytelling nature of my photography and having been guests at another wedding I shot a couple of years previously they wanted the unobtrusive way I go about it. (You might notice Rich, who was the groom from a previous wedding I photographed in Cornwall 2 years ago as he is the Registrar here!)
The day started clear and sunny and the day stayed warm and dry right through to the end; a beautiful early autumn day. The story in photos below begins with Nick at The Fisherman’s Haunt, Christchurch. Just down the road from Sopley Mill it was an ideal venue for the groom and best man to stay the night and in the morning get ready along with the ushers.
A little further down the road at the Somerford, a premier Inn in Christchurch Claire, the bride, prepared for her wedding day with her bridesmaids and parents. Claire’s family and friends came over from Ireland so this proved as great local accommodation for Sopley Mill for her wedding guests too. It also proved to be loads of laughs all morning too! All ready for the big moment Claire and bridesmaids were transported to the wedding venue in a 1960’s VW T2 split screen bus for the 3pm wedding ceremony. (You’ll notice the clocks as part of my storytelling in the photos, I also sneak outside to use the change in daylight to show this later too).
The top floor of Sopley Mill served as brilliant bright wedding ceremony superbly conducted by their registrars Rich and Mike. (and for eagle eyed blog readers you will notice that Mike was Rich’s registrar at that Cornwall wedding I did a couple of years back too! Both are good friends of Claire and Nick!). After the ceremony the newly weds got to celebrate with the warm late summer in the grounds of Sopley Mill before joining guests for their wedding breakfast and all essentials speeches on the 1st floor. The top floor was meanwhile prepared for the party and as you can see the Irish guests showed how it’s done! I couldn’t resist adding these to the blog; all great people and an amazing day. Thank you and congratulations Claire and Nick!
