Hollie and Jay approached me via a referral about their October Hampshire wedding.
We met up though I can’t really call it a meeting as we were getting on like friends and chatting about all sorts straight away! But we did talk lots about the wedding plans and how I could help with things other than just the photography such as the days planning. We also got round to looking through my photography of recent weddings and lifestyle portraiture on location. They loved the natural style and wanted it for their big day and so we booked it in the calendar and made arrangements for their engagement photography session. It was really easy to choose a location for this since they had fond memories of Leigh Park gardens when growing up with grandparents. I helped Hollie and Jay with how to relax and feel comfortable in front of the lens yet achieve the style they wanted. Though are were such an amazing couple and so obviously in love I didn’t need to work hard to show that in the photos, it was such good fun, even the Milo the dog joined in!
With Jay serving in the Tanks regiment for the army he would be wearing his military “one’s” uniform with his best man in his “two’s” (This terminology was new to me but I soon learnt that the “ones” is the No.1 Ceremonial Uniform for the most important of official engagements. The "two's" is the Parade Uniform still being smart dress along with the Mess uniform that friends from the regiment wore who arrived later in the day).
Hollie and Jay were both to prepare for their big day in Southsea although the ceremony was being held in Winchester. I first visited Jay with his best man and entourage at The Terrace Barbers Southsea in the morning and then moved on to The Hair Tree the other side of Southsea to meet Hollie and all the girls. It is great to be part of the buzz of the atmosphere and capture images of the excitement and anticipation during the preparation stages of the day. With hair beautifully styled Hollie and her bridal party went on to complete their preparation at Ashby's boutique Hotel in Southsea. I then made a dash up to Winchester where their ceremony was being held to capture Jay and the best man preparing ready for Hollies arrival.
Wedding Preparation Photography:
The people at Winchester registry office are so friendly and performed a relaxed and joyful ceremony in their beautiful white Pendragon room. It had been raining in the morning but the light now shone through and gave us an opportunity to sneak in some wedding couple photos at the nearby formal army barracks in the centre of Winchester. Very suitable with Jay in his “one’s” uniform and Hollie in her beautiful fairytale dress from Brides to Be (Warsash).
Wedding Ceremony Photography:
We had reports of heavy rain all day but despite some showers in the morning, just before the ceremony the clouds parted and the sun shone bright for Hollie and Jay for almost all of their special day. The couple relaxed with champagne in their car (Allenby Limousines) for the drive from Winchester to Southsea to meet their guests in Ashby's Boutique Hotel where the reception and all important partying began!
Wedding Celebration Photography:
It was a perfect day for Hollie and Jay with the October weather turning good at all the right times for their big day. It was lovely to see them again for the photo viewing and I hope we will meet again soon too.
"Adam, You have done so much more than just our wedding photography and we are really grateful, thank you so much"
~ Hollie and Jayjay, both smiling so happy on their wedding day :)
