In October I visited Katarina Willingham's Lemon and Soul cookery school while she hosted one of her bespoke events. This was for the business networking group "Lunch Matters". With my love of food it sounded like ideal event to photograph and what a pleasant and tasty surprise I was in for.
UPDATE: Lemon and Soul have now written about my photography of their class too! Link is at the ned of this blog post.
In attendance Katarina's @LemonandSoul cookery school there was Charlotte Forder (@AcewordsUK marketing), Sharon Davis (@DaisyAccents - jewellery and accessories), Tracy Jenkins (@HWB_Accountants), Natasha Brelsford (@SousaRichards solicitors). Upon greeting everybody in to Katarina's beautiful house she provided them all with the Lemon and Soul aprons and showed them to their cookery areas in the kitchen.
Katarina had devised a class for the group suitable for the Christmas party season. They were to make canapés and sushi, items that look sophisticated and taste great yet can be relatively simple to make, when you know how; that is just what Katarina set about to show everyone.
The first item was sushi, to be more precise "Hosomaki". Thin sheets of seaweed are rolled to encase rice and vegetables, all finely chopped. The long roll is then cut into smaller portions which give its pleasant presentation. This was just one of many cánapes made, Katarina also taking the group through making mini Blinis from scratch. Everyone then topped these with yet more fresh ingredients they had prepared including vegetables, salmon, chicken, beef and a superb vibrant passion fruit and mango salsa. It wasn't long before each participant was making these sophisticated canapés with ease.
I'm getting hungry just listing some of the items here and have only scratched the surface of the amazing food that everyone produced during the Lemon and Soul cookery school. My personal highlight; the mini Yorkshire puddings filled with a home sauce of Slovakian Horseradish (from Katarina's native country), créme fraiche and vodka then topped with a slice of roast beef for perfection.
Having written about all the delicious food I am now far too hungry so I shall leave you to feast your eyes on the rest of the delicious treats the the "Lunch Matters" networking group cooked up with the knowledgeable and fun instruction of Katarina Willingham of Lemon and Soul, cooking with a twist...
(by the way I secretly feature in two of these photos and thought it would be fun to leave them in. Prize for the first person that spots them to be determined! :) )
Whilst I do enjoy doing commercial photography for businesses and events I am not sure I could be a food photographer as I'd be so hungry. But I am willing to do it again; please!
Thank you for reading, please scroll down to enjoy the photography of the vibrant fresh colours from all the delicious food the ladies created with Lemon and Soul cookery school.
